1999 BMW 5 Series
For this year, the exterior of BMW 5 Series remains unchanged. However, the standard
and optional features are largely upgraded. To give way to BMW "intelligent lightweight
design" philosophy, aluminum is being used in BMW's chassis, brakes and suspension.
Two engines and four transmissions are available for this year's 5 Series. The
2.8-liter I6 engine breathes 193 horsepower while the 4.4-liter V8 gives off 282
horsepower. The available transmissions are 4-speed automatic overdrive, 5-speed
automatic overdrive, 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual overdrive.
This year's 5 Series can comfortably accommodate 5 persons. It has standard features
such as sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, leather seats
power seats and cassette player. To ensure safety, 5 Series comes with standard
driver and passenger side airbags, ABS brakes and traction control.
The body shell of BMW 5 Series is very firm. It is considered as the most aerodynamically
efficient sedan in the automotive industry due to its low 0.30 coefficient of
the drag. Its redesigned door seals and foam-filled body cavities hinder any unwanted
noise from getting inside the vehicle.

In the inside, you'll find separate climate controls for the driver and front
seat occupant. 5 Series also comes standard with cruise control, tachometer, tilt
steering, tilt steering column and telescopic steering column. Exterior features
include power adjustable exterior mirror, alloy wheels, full size spare tire and
rear window defogger. '99 BMW 5 Series is built in a 111.4 inches wheelbase with
an overall length of 188 inches and an overall width of 70.90 inches.
