2001 BMW 5 Series
There are many great cars that comprise the mid-size sedan division. But BMW
still has an edge with its 5 Series that remain as a standard for luxury sports
sedans. The 2002 BMW 5 Series is composed of three sedans and two wagons. The
525i, 530i and 540iA made the 5 Series sedans while Wagons are consisting of 525iT
and 540iT models. The 2001 5 Series 525i, 530i and 525iT are loaded with almost
the same bunch of standard equipments and vinyl upholstery. The 530i model receives
automatic air conditioning while 525 have manual controls.
All these models are offered with five-speed manual gearbox and an optional five-speed
automatic transmission featuring adaptive shift logic and Steptronic shifter.
The 525i comes with available 2.5-liter fuel-injected six-cylinder engine. This
is a new double overhead-cam inline-6 with variable valve timing for strong power
and outstanding fuel economy at any speed. It breathes 184 horsepower and has
an EPA ? estimated 20/29 miles per gallon city/highway.
The successor to the 528i, 530i comes equipped with a more powerful 3.0-liter
six-cylinder engine that produces 225 horsepower and 214 pounds-feet of torque.
Powering the 540 models is a 4.4-liter V8 that cranks out 282 horsepower and 324
pounds-feet of torque. 540 models are offered standard with leather upholstery,
automatic air conditioning, xenon high-intensity discharged headlamps and burl
walnut trim.
A luxury edition, 540iA comes standard with five-speed Steptronic transmission,
16-inch wheels, 10-way power seats and self-leveling rear suspension while the
special sports model 540i features 6-speed manual gearbox, 17-inch wheels with
larger tires and anti-roll bars which are specially tuned. It is also offered
with sports suspension that has firm springs and shock absorbers and lower ride
height.
